Six Nigerian governors have embarked on a peer-learning mission to Ethiopia and the Benin Republic to study successful industrial development models as part of efforts to establish agro-processing hubs and expand manufacturing across their states.

The governors are participating in the study tour alongside Vice President Kashim Shettima, with the mission focused on exploring strategies that have driven industrial growth in the two African countries.

The initiative is designed to help the participating states gain practical insights into how investments in infrastructure, private sector partnerships, and efficient agricultural value chains can accelerate industrialisation, create jobs, and boost economic development.

According to available information, the study visit will expose the governors to successful agro-industrial projects and manufacturing clusters, enabling them to adapt proven models to Nigeria’s local realities.

The Federal Government has continued to encourage state governments to strengthen industrial development by promoting value addition in agriculture, improving infrastructure, and attracting private investment as part of efforts to diversify the nation’s economy.
