APC uploads 27 governorship candidates to INEC Portal ahead of deadline
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has uploaded the details of 27 governorship candidates and their running matesto the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Candidate Nomination Portal (ICNP), ahead of the August 8 submission deadline.
The ruling party also disclosed that it has completed the upload of more than 60 per cent of its candidates contesting seats in the various State Houses of Assembly.
According to sources within the APC National Working Committee Vetting Committee, the party has concluded submissions for 27 of the 28 states holding governorship elections, with only one state’s nomination pending due to disagreements over the choice of a deputy governorship candidate.
The APC also confirmed that 15 of the 16 incumbent governors seeking re-election have been cleared and uploaded, alongside several first-time governorship candidates, including Obafemi Hamzat (Lagos), Solomon Adeola (Ogun), Ogundu Kingsley Chinda (Rivers), and others.
Party officials expressed confidence that the remaining governorship nomination and the outstanding State House of Assembly candidates would be uploaded well before INEC’s deadline, despite initial technical challenges with the commission’s portal.
