Barrister Ushahemba Namtar (BUN), a PhD candidate and prominent aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has stepped up his engagement with key stakeholders as preparations intensify for the party’s primary election scheduled for May 2027.

Widely regarded as a leading figure in the race for the Vandeikya/Konshisha (Jechira) Federal Constituency seat in the National Assembly, Namtar is strengthening consultations to consolidate support ahead of the contest.
Barr. Ushahemba Namtar is the son of John Namtar Apaa from Tse Ikyomke, Mbawar, Mbagusa in Mbagusa/Mbatser Council Ward, Diiv, Shangev-Tiev, Konshisha LGA. His maternal home is Mbaliam in Mbagbera Council Ward. His grand paternal home is Mbawuar, Mbadede Council Ward. While his grand maternal home is Mbaagime, Mbayongo Council Ward. Barr. Ushahemba Namtar also grew up at New Market, in Mbakaange Council Ward all in Vandeikya Local Government.

Beyond engaging key stakeholders across Jechira at the individual level, Barr. Ushahemba Namtar who previously vied for the same office in 2023 has, since 2025, expanded his outreach and secured backing from several groups and influential figures throughout the constituency.
Among the groups he has interacted with are:
- APC Elders, Stakeholders and Excos from Diiv, Shangev-Tiev.
- Arise Community Builders, Shangev-Tiev.
- Kunav Adorable Sisters, Vandeikya.
- Mbagbera Council Ward Traditional Council and Mbagbera APC elders, Vandeikya.
- New Market youths, women and elders, Vandeikya.
- Youths and women in Tsambe Council Ward.
- APC Benue State Local Government Chairman Aspirants Forum members from Jechira and others two numerous to mention.
With a decade of professional experience at the Bar, Barr. Ushahemba Namtar has developed extensive expertise in legal practice as well as legislative processes.
His academic journey in law reflects continuous advancement. He began with a Diploma in Law at Rev. Fr. Moses Orshio Adasu University, Makurdi, proceeded to obtain a Law degree from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and was subsequently called to the Nigerian Bar after completing his training at the Nigerian Law School. He further earned a Master of Laws (LL.M) from Bayero University, Kano, and is currently undertaking a PhD in Law at the same institution.

Barr. Namtar remains actively engaged in legal practice, with experience spanning proceedings at all levels of the Nigerian judicial system, including appearances before the Supreme Court of Nigeria. His portfolio covers a wide range of cases, notably including both pre-election and post-election litigation.
In addition to his courtroom practice, he has served in several advisory capacities for professional and socio-cultural organisations.
These include roles such as Legal Advisor to Mdzough u Tiv (Kano Branch), former Legal Advisor to the Benue State Forum in Kano, Legal Advisor to the Northern Ethnic Peoples Association, National Legal Advisor to Government Secondary School Gungul Old Students Association, and Legal Advisor to the Konshisha Development Association (Kano Branch), among others. In these positions, he has contributed to drafting constitutions and bye-laws, while also providing legal guidance on diverse matters.

Notably, he has provided extensive pro bono legal services to Tiv communities within and beyond Benue State, with the Jechira people emerging as the primary beneficiaries of his interventions.

Ushahemba Namtar is poised to apart from law making, complement the efforts of the Executive Governor of Benue State, His Excellency, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Iormen Alia, PhD in the areas of security, infrastructure, health, education, agriculture, women and youths empowerment, job creation amongst others for the overall benefits of Jechira people.
