The member representing Kwande/Ushongo Federal Constituency, Terseer Ugbor, has petitioned the Primary Election Appeals Committee, rejecting what he described as “fake results” announced by the APC Primary Election Committee in Benue State.
Speaking with journalists shortly after submitting his petition in Makurdi, Ugbor insisted that the declared outcome was unjust and failed to reflect the true wishes of party members.
The lawmaker expressed confidence that the appeal panel would overturn the disputed result and declare him the rightful winner, maintaining that he secured the highest lawful votes during the exercise.
Ugbor commended APC supporters and constituents across Kwande/Ushongo for what he described as their unwavering loyalty and confidence in his mandate.
He alleged that the primary election process was marred by irregularities, including the late arrival and diversion of election materials, manipulation of result sheets, and inflation of figures, which he said undermined democratic standards.
According to the petition, some wards allegedly did not receive authentic result sheets, while agents representing Ugbor were reportedly denied access to sign or obtain copies of the final results.
The petition also cited reports of intimidation and violence against party agents, with some properties allegedly vandalised during the exercise.
Ugbor further claimed that independent observers and party agents who monitored the election across the 26 council wards compiled results showing that he was ahead of other contenders.
He called on the national leadership of the All Progressives Congress and the Appeal Committee to ensure justice and fairness by thoroughly reviewing the grievances raised in the petition.
The federal lawmaker also appreciated his constituents for their support during his first term in office, pledging to deepen ongoing development projects if granted another mandate.
He reaffirmed his commitment to quality representation, people-oriented legislation, and infrastructure development.
“Your support, trust, and confidence remain my greatest source of strength. I assure our party faithful and constituents that I shall never relent in the pursuit of the mandate freely given to me,” Ugbor stated.
