Former Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom has dismissed claims that the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP-led administration owed workers four years’ salaries and seven years’ pensions, describing the allegations as false and misleading.
Ortom spoke in Makurdi during the affirmation of Michael Aondoakaa as the PDP governorship candidate for the 2027 election.
He urged members of the public to disregard the reports, insisting that the PDP administration did not abandon workers’ welfare as being alleged.
The former governor also assured Benue residents that Aondoakaa, if elected governor, would prioritise the return of Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs, to their ancestral communities.
In his acceptance speech, Aondoakaa pledged to transform the state through improved healthcare, quality education, infrastructure development and decisive measures to tackle insecurity.
He also announced Oyije Ogbenjuwa as his running mate for the election.
