The Social Democratic Party (SDP) has publicly distanced itself from former Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, stating emphatically that he is neither a registered member nor has any official ties with the party.
In a statement released by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Ambassador Rufus Aiyenigba, the SDP clarified that El-Rufai has not joined the party and is not in any way authorized to speak or act on its behalf.
“The attention of the leadership of the Social Democratic Party has been drawn to claims and insinuations linking Mallam Nasiru El-Rufai to our party. We wish to categorically state that El-Rufai is not a member of the SDP, neither has he been authorised to represent the party in any capacity,” Aiyenigba stated.
The party advised the public to disregard any such claims and reaffirmed its commitment to internal democracy and transparent political engagement, stressing that membership into the party follows laid-down procedures.
