President Volodymyr Zelensky called for tougher international sanctions on Russia after a deadly airstrike in Sumy killed three civilians.

Accusing Moscow of targeting civilians and stalling peace talks, Zelensky urged the U.S. and Europe to escalate economic pressure on the Kremlin.

A bipartisan U.S. Senate bill proposing 500% tariffs on countries buying Russian oil, gas, and uranium has gained traction, supported by 82 senators.

However, President Trump, prioritizing ceasefire negotiations, has not committed to new sanctions.

The EU and UK have advanced their 17th sanctions package, targeting Russia’s energy and financial sectors.

Zelensky insists sanctions are critical to forcing Russia to negotiate and protecting Ukrainian lives amid ongoing attacks.
