Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has declared that the Labour Party (LP) will provide a fair and transparent platform for all qualified aspirants ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Otti, who is regarded as the National Leader of the party, made the statement on Thursday in Abuja after observing the inaugural meeting of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC).
He said no member who meets the party’s requirements, including valid membership and financial obligations, would be denied the opportunity to contest.
“If you meet the requirements of the party and you want to run, we will give you a ticket. Democracy does not stop anybody who wants to contest. It is the people who will decide who leads them,” Otti said.
The governor also expressed confidence in the new party leadership that emerged from the recent national convention, saying they have the capacity to reposition the LP for future success.
He congratulated the National Chairman, Senator Nenadi Usman, and members of the 13-member committee, describing their emergence as well deserved.
Otti noted that the strong turnout at the meeting showed growing unity within the party, adding that Labour Party is overcoming internal challenges and focusing on stronger primaries, voting systems, and preparations for future elections.
