Alia Orders Security Reinforcement, Manhunt After Deadly Attack on Katsina-Ala Community
Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, has ordered the deployment of additional security personnel to Saii and neighbouring communities in Katsina-Ala Local Government Area following a deadly attack that claimed several lives and left many others injured.
The governor also directed security agencies to immediately launch a manhunt for those responsible for the assault, insisting that the perpetrators must be tracked down, arrested, and brought to justice.
Governor Alia charged security operatives to strengthen surveillance across the affected communities, protect farmers returning to their farmlands, and ensure that agricultural activities continue without further disruption.
He appealed to residents to remain calm and law-abiding while urging local vigilante groups to promptly report any suspicious movements or activities to the nearest security authorities.
Condemning the attack, the governor described it as a cowardly and senseless act of violence against innocent citizens, especially at a time when farmers had resumed cultivation on their ancestral lands. He assured the people that his administration would restore lasting peace and security across the affected communities.
Governor Alia also expressed heartfelt condolences to families who lost loved ones in the incident and wished those receiving treatment a speedy recovery. He reassured the people of Katsina-Ala and Benue State that his administration remains committed to safeguarding lives, protecting livelihoods, and ensuring that criminal elements do not force residents from their ancestral homes.
According to a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Tersoo Kula, the attack occurred in the early hours of Wednesday and was allegedly carried out by terrorists posing as herdsmen, resulting in multiple deaths and injuries.
