The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, has stated that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has addressed long-standing concerns about the marginalisation of the South-East through the execution of major infrastructure projects across the region.

Speaking on Monday, June 15, 2026, at a rally organised by the Ebonyi State chapter of the APC at the Abakaliki Township Stadium, Yilwatda said the Federal Government’s commitment to the South-East is evident in the numerous ongoing projects spread across the zone.

According to him, claims that the region is being neglected are no longer justified, as several developmental projects have been approved and are currently underway. He praised the large turnout at the rally and described Ebonyi as a strong APC stronghold.

Yilwatda also dismissed reports suggesting that Ebonyi State was drifting towards the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), insisting that the APC remains firmly in control. He reaffirmed President Tinubu’s support for Governor Francis Nwifuru and expressed confidence that the party would retain its elective positions in the 2027 elections.

Also speaking at the event, Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, said the South-East is politically aligned with President Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections. He noted that the President has demonstrated commitment to the region through key infrastructure projects, including road constructions worth about N445 billion in Ebonyi State alone.

The rally featured the endorsement of President Tinubu as the APC’s sole presidential candidate for the 2027 election. The motion was moved by former Ebonyi State Governor, Chief Martin Elechi, and seconded by former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator Pius Anyim.

Governor Francis Nwifuru described Tinubu as a leader committed to development, noting that Ebonyi State has benefited from federal appointments and infrastructure projects under the current administration.

Anambra State Governor, Chukwuma Soludo, who attended the event, said he was present in solidarity with Governor Nwifuru. Although a member of APGA, Soludo said he supports progressive governance and national development.

The rally attracted several political leaders, including Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma, Minister of Works David Umahi, Enugu State Deputy Governor Ifeanyi Ossai, Senator Pius Anyim, and other top government officials.
