Former Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Yusuf Buratai (retd.), has expressed deep concern over the recent altercation between the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, and a Nigerian Navy officer in Abuja, describing it as “a clear and present danger to national security.”

In a statement shared via his verified Facebook account on Tuesday, Buratai condemned Wike’s actions during the confrontation, noting that the Minister’s conduct “goes beyond ordinary misconduct” and poses a threat to the authority of the Commander-in-Chief as well as the integrity of the Armed Forces.

The confrontation, which reportedly occurred on November 11, 2025, at Plot 1946 in the Gaduwa District of Abuja, was said to have arisen from a dispute over the ownership and development of a piece of land allegedly linked to a former Chief of Naval Staff.

Wike, who visited the site alongside top officials of the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA), had sought to stop what he described as an “unauthorized construction.” However, he was confronted by a naval officer who was reportedly overseeing the property.

A video of the incident, which has since gone viral on social media, shows Wike visibly enraged, challenging the officer’s authority and insisting that military personnel are not above the law.

“You’re in uniform and claiming the Navy owns this land? Who gave you approval to build here? Even if you’re the Chief of Naval Staff, you must obey the law,” Wike was heard saying in the clip.
