The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has dismissed reports suggesting that foreign troops participated in the operation that led to the elimination of terrorist commander, Abu Bilal Al-Minuki.
Director of Defence Media Operations, Michael Onoja, clarified that no foreign soldier was involved in the military operation.
Maj.-Gen. Onoja stated that the operation was carried out solely by Nigerian security forces, contrary to claims circulating in some international reports.
According to him, the Nigerian Armed Forces independently executed the mission that resulted in the killing of Al-Minuki, who had been linked to terrorist activities across parts of the region.
His statement comes amid widespread reports following comments by Donald Trump claiming that American forces worked alongside Nigerian troops in the operation.
The Defence Headquarters, however, maintained that while Nigeria continues to cooperate with international partners in intelligence sharing and counterterrorism efforts, no foreign combat troops participated directly in the operation.
The military reiterated its commitment to combating terrorism and restoring security across affected parts of the country.
