A governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Benue State, Kuraun, has called on the National Working Committee of the party to urgently cancel the recently conducted governorship primary and organise a fresh election.
Kuraun alleged that the primary election was marred by irregularities and lacked transparency, insisting that a new exercise should be independently supervised to ensure credibility and fairness.
He further maintained that based on what he described as substantial compliance with the party’s guidelines and requirements, he should be declared the rightful winner of the primary election.
According to him, “Benue deserves credible leadership recruitment processes, not manufactured outcomes. Internal democracy remains the foundation upon which public democratic legitimacy rests.”
The APC chieftain urged the party leadership to act swiftly in order to preserve confidence in the internal democratic process and avoid further division within the party ahead of the governorship election.
