The Governorship Candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Benue State, Rt. Hon. Barr. Herman Iorwase Hembe, has expressed confidence that Benue State can overcome its current socio-economic and security challenges through purposeful leadership and accountable governance.

Hembe made the statement while addressing his media team, insisting that the hardship currently being experienced across Benue should not be accepted as a permanent reality.

“It is not a curse, Benue can be better. ADC will make it better,” the ADC candidate stated.

The former federal lawmaker said Benue State possesses enormous agricultural potential, human resources, and economic opportunities capable of transforming the state if properly managed.

According to him, insecurity, unemployment, poor infrastructure, unpaid salaries, and lack of transparency in governance have continued to slow down development and increase hardship among citizens.

Barr. Hembe noted that many rural communities in the state still face security threats, while thousands of displaced persons remain unable to return to their ancestral homes despite repeated government assurances.

He further emphasized that governance must prioritize the welfare and safety of citizens, adding that leadership should be driven by competence, fairness, and accountability.

The ADC governorship candidate pledged that an administration under his leadership would focus on strengthening security, supporting agriculture, improving infrastructure, reviving the civil service, and promoting merit-based governance.

He also promised to prioritize rural development and create opportunities for youths and women across the 23 local government areas of the state.

“Our people deserve a government that listens, protects lives, develops communities, and manages public resources responsibly,” Hembe said.

He called on the people of Benue State to support the ADC movement ahead of the 2027 governorship election, describing the party as a platform committed to rebuilding public trust and restoring hope among citizens.

Political observers believe the coming election cycle in Benue State may be heavily influenced by issues surrounding insecurity, economic hardship, workers’ welfare, and demands for greater accountability in governance.

As political activities continue to gather momentum ahead of 2027, Barr. Hembe maintained that Benue State can regain its lost glory through responsible leadership and collective commitment from both government and citizens.
