President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has nominated Joseph Olasunkanmi Tegbe as the new Minister of Power and sent his name to the Senate for confirmation.
The appointment was announced on April 30, 2026, in a statement issued by the State House and signed by presidential spokesman, Bayo Onanuga.
Tegbe’s nomination comes after the resignation of former Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, who stepped down to pursue his governorship ambition in Oyo State. In a letter dated April 22, Adelabu informed the President that his resignation would take effect from April 30.
Joseph Tegbe, an indigene of Oyo State, is widely recognised for his expertise in finance, governance, and economic reforms, with over 30 years of experience in both public and private sectors.
He previously served as a senior partner at KPMG Africa, where he led advisory projects on policy reforms, governance systems, and institutional development.
Tegbe currently serves as Director-General and Global Liaison of the Nigeria-China Strategic Partnership, where he oversees bilateral cooperation and development initiatives between both nations.
