President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has relieved Mr. Wale Edun of his position as Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy.
The President elevated Mr. Taiwo Oyedele, the former Minister of State for Finance, to the substantive role of Minister of Finance.
In a related move, Tinubu also removed Arc. Ahmed Musa Dangiwa as Minister of Housing and Urban Development and nominated Dr. Muttaqha Rabe Darma as the new Minister for the ministry.
The changes were announced on Tuesday in a statement from the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, describing it as a minor cabinet reshuffle.
The reshuffle is aimed at strengthening cohesion and synergy in governance to achieve better economic outcomes under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
All handing over and taking over processes are expected to be completed on or before Thursday, April 23, 2026.President Tinubu exercised his powers under Sections 147 and 148 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended) in approving the changes.
