The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced May 11, 2026, as the date for its annual policy meeting on admissions into tertiary institutions across Nigeria.

The meeting is expected to decide the minimum Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) cut-off marks and other admission guidelines for universities, polytechnics, colleges of education, and related institutions for the 2026/2027 academic session.

JAMB spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin, disclosed this in a statement issued on Sunday, noting that the event would hold in Abuja with major stakeholders in the education sector in attendance.

According to the board, the Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa, is expected to unveil key policy directions for the upcoming admission exercise.

JAMB said the meeting would officially signal the start of the 2026/2027 admission process while stressing the need for institutions to strictly comply with approved admission procedures.

Those expected at the gathering include vice-chancellors, rectors, provosts, registrars, admission officers, and representatives of regulatory bodies such as the National Universities Commission (NUC), National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE), and National Board for Technical Education (NBTE).

Benjamin stated that the meeting would allow stakeholders to review challenges affecting admissions and agree on a smooth framework for the new academic session.

He added that goodwill messages would also be delivered by key organisations, including the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) and the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), reflecting the importance of collaboration in the education sector.

The statement further revealed that the sixth edition of the National Tertiary Admissions Performance-Merit Awards (NATAP-M) would be held during the event.

According to JAMB, the initiative has improved transparency, promoted compliance with admission rules, and strengthened tertiary education development in Nigeria.

The decisions reached at the meeting are expected to guide institutions in carrying out admissions for the 2026/2027 academic session.
