The Benue State Government has launched the first phase of its International Entrepreneurship and Youth Empowerment Programme in Belarus as part of efforts to equip youths with globally competitive skills.
The initiative, introduced by Governor Hyacinth Alia in collaboration with the National Directorate of Employment, commenced on Wednesday at the Republican Institute for Vocational Studies (RIPO) in Belarus.
According to a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Sir Tersoo Kula, participants have already begun intensive vocational and artisanal training at the institute.
The programme combines classroom learning with practical hands-on experience in infrastructural development and several vocational fields aimed at preparing participants for the modern global labour market.
The Benue State Government said the initiative is focused on human capital development, with strong attention placed on industry-relevant certification, digital innovation, and technical skills acquisition.
Governor Alia also revealed plans to expand the programme to cover the agricultural and automotive sectors as part of his administration’s broader youth empowerment agenda.
The Benue delegation, led by the Director General of the Bureau of Entrepreneurship and Wealth Creation, Benita Shuluwa, was formally received by officials of RIPO upon arrival in Belarus.
Both parties expressed optimism over the partnership, with discussions ongoing to extend the programme to additional Centres of Excellence within the institute.
The government noted that the initiative is expected to create new opportunities for innovation, entrepreneurship, and international exposure for youths across Benue State.
